Two northern Palm Beach County women interested in social impact grants, set about this summer to create an IMPACT 100 group, using the south Palm Beach County organization as its model.
Deborah Johnson and Bridget Baratta both work; both have been involved with a variety of nonprofit organizations over the years; however, their fiscal stewardship philosophy had outgrown the annual fundraising template.
Determined to enlist 100 women who would each donate $1,000 in time to make their first grant in December, Ms. Johnson and Ms. Baratta set out over the summer to share their vision.
It worked. A total of 108 women agreed that social impact funding was the wave of the future to initiate needed social change and make an immediate impact on a community. By October, the needed money was raised; the application process completed; and, the awards luncheon for Dec.15 was set.
