Meeting Families Where They Are: Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Brings Hope and Essentials to Our Community

In April 2024, Impact the Palm Beaches awarded $100,000 to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB), to fund supplies and staffing for their Basics4Babies Emergency Pantry for Infants. The Pantry provides a lifeline for families in need and has expanded its reach and services, providing critical supplies to ensure the health and well-being of our community’s youngest members. In addition, as is so often the case, the Impact grant provided exposure and new funding opportunities for the organization.

Since June, HMHB has distributed over 148,000 diapers, 4,300 canisters of baby formula, and more than 500 food packs, serving more than 4,600 children. This program, supported by the grant, has made it possible for families like Jissel’s to overcome challenging times:

Even amid logistical hurdles, including an office relocation and major weather disruptions that coincided with the grant period, HMHB's mobile pantry bus ensured uninterrupted service, delivering hope to families across the region. The grant has been critical to maintaining consistent inventory during this challenging time, allowing HMHB to purchase over 700,000 diapers, 12,000 canisters of formula, and 2,000 food packs over the grant period. Additionally, this support has bolstered their ability to adapt operations and serve families efficiently, whether through their expanded brick-and-mortar pantry or mobile distribution efforts.

With community partnerships and additional funding, HMHB is building a sustainable program to meet the ongoing needs of vulnerable families. Their mission doesn’t just stop at providing essentials—it’s about uplifting families, creating stability, and fostering resilience in the face of adversity.
