Our July Member Spotlight celebrates our Events Committee Chair, Ingela O’Brien. Ingela was born and raised in Marlborough, Connecticut, a small town just East of Hartford. She spent her childhood summers, until the age of 18, with her maternal grandparents living in Bollebygd, Sweden (her mother was born and raised in Sweden). She is fluent in Swedish, a language she learned as a very young child. In fact, she and her sister learned Swedish before they even learned English!
Ingela moved to New York City in January of 2000 and lived just two blocks from the World Trade Center when 9/11 happened. After two years in New York, she moved to Florida in January 2002, starting in Ft. Lauderdale and slowly making her way north, from Boca Raton, to Palm Beach Gardens, and finally settling in her current home of Jupiter. Her professional experience includes serving as Vice President of Marketing for software companies and as the Director of Membership and Marketing for the Sailfish Club of Florida. She currently works at Chilton Trust on Palm Beach Island.
Ingela loves anything to do with art and creating art – painting, clay, crafts, refinishing furniture, and more. She also enjoys travel, hiking, decorating, reading, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She has travelled most of Europe and looks forward to experiencing new and exciting destinations once her only daughter heads off to college in August.
Ingela has been an Impact member since 2022 and has found that Impact has had many benefits for her personally, including opportunities for personal growth, community involvement, philanthropic efforts, committee participation. And, it is all for a cause that she supports 100 percent and is honored to be a part of. “I have met so many wonderful new women and friends and I love being part of such a strong community. I am excited to be Events Chair this season and look forward to celebrating Impact’s 10-year anniversary and seeing what impact we can have on tomorrow!”
