Impact’s February Membership Spotlight celebrates Ofelia Utset. Originally from Chicago, Ofelia moved to Ft. Lauderdale at the age of 11. Her schooling, including medical school, took her to various places, across the country, including Austin, TX, where she was the first female pulmonologist ever to practice in the area. Ofelia came back to Florida in 2009 and now lives in Jupiter.
After retiring from clinical medicine, Ofelia went back to school for her MBA at FAU and is currently president of Deluge Biotechnologies, a small biotech company that she and her husband of 40 years started in 2017.
Ofelia enjoys being involved with organizations that empower girls and women and was drawn to Impact as an organization run by strong, smart women who are making a positive change in our community. Ofelia is the proud mother of a 25-year-old daughter.
Ofelia also serves on the boards of Leadership PBC, Girl Scouts of SE Florida, Friends of Jupiter Beach, and the Forum Club. She is a past recipient of the Athena Leadership Award and the Girl Scouts Emerald Award. Among her interests are growing orchids, boating, and traveling.
